On Saturday night we tried out a new eatery in Stamford, Little Buddha at 2270 Summer Street across from the Ridgeway Shopping Center. As it had come highly recommended by friends, a flying visit by a family member and fancier of Asian food, especially of the very hot kind, brought us there for dinner. (Hot Sauce is his middle name …)
The cuisine is Thai and Hakka Chinese, and there are lots of vegetarian choices. My favorite appetizer was a generous and tasty portion of "Cauliflower Manchurian," and I will try the dumplings next time around, and the soups. A beef salad I had was rather pedestrian, but looking at the menu right now, not how it was listed there – hmm, should I go and complain? The others in our party had noodle dishes and "Wok Tossed Vegetables" – of the spicy kind – and did enjoy their meal. I've heard good things about the curries too. The place got the seal of approval from our expert.
There definitely will be a "next time," but in form of take-out – which seems to be the main business anyway – the restaurant space is small and cramped and it was extremely noisy when we were there, conversation was difficult. From where we sat we had a prime view of the gleaming steel kitchen and its organized chaos.
